Complex oxides usually react against stress, interfacial dissimilarity or size effects in an intricate way involving cooperative structural, chemical and electronic local perturbations which determine the functionality of the nanostructures. A part of our activity is devoted to the understanding of the atomic and chemical structure of defects (heterointerfaces, twin walls, dislocations) using state of the art transmission and scanning/transmission electron microscopies combined with electron electron energy loss spectroscopy. |
