Last 18th January we organized a special meeting of DAFNEOX Project with the participation of several students from Chile, Netherlands and Barcelona. It was a great opportunity for everybody to learn about our joint work.
Our group will be represented at GEFES 2018 meeting by Dr. Lluis Balcells and Laura López-Mir Laura will talk about “Anisotropic sensor and memory device with a ferromagnetic insulating tunnel barrier” Lluis will present a poster on “One-step route to …
The use of an antiferromagnetic material with large spin-orbit effect in tunnel junctions with improved anisotropic magentoresistance has been demonstrated in a international collaboration leaded by ICMAB. See more at Highlights page.
In the framework of the European project DAFNEOX, a paper in collaboration between ICMAB, ICN2 and IPB explores the spontaneous formation of self-assembled ferrimagnetic Mn3O4 inclusions inside an antiferromagnetic LaMnO3 thin film. See more at Highlights page.
Stacking fault formation during growth of oxide films leads to the spontaneous formation of double chemical terminated surfaces with distinct local properties. See more at Highlights page
Strain-induced perpendicular magnetic anisotropy in La2CoMnO6-e thin films and its dependence on film thickness A new paper published in Physical Review B demonstrates that the strong perpendicular magnetic anisotropy observed in LCMO films may be attributed to tensile stress. See …

Baptiste Colson, from Paris, has joined us for an internship until End of June. He will work on thin film preparation and characterization. He is also a good badminton player so do not hesitate to ask him for a match.
Our deepest congratulations to Bernat Bozzo who graduated with a PhD Thesis on ”Superconducting Joining of Melt Textured YBCO Bulks”. He got the highest qualification: “Excellent”.
In its last post, the popular blog Spintronics highligthed our recent paper on Strain-induced ferromagnetism in LaMnO3 films published at Crystal Growth&Design. For more information visit the blog and our paper.
